Biorenova S.p.A. established MyRemono S.r.l. in April 2023 by transferring all the assets, including patents and prototype plants, related to CatC technology.
CatC technology is the result of several years of development and represents a cost-efficient, continuous and modular chemical recycling process to recover monomers (building blocks for the plastic value chain) with ultra-high levels of purity from sorted plastic waste.

CatC technology’s development began in 2015 and Biorenova has been successfully awarded the public resources envisaged by the following funding programs to support the required investments: “Smart&Start Italy” (call for the creation and development of innovative startups, managed by Invitalia S.p.A.) and “Start-up, Start-hope” (call for small new innovative businesses located in the Abruzzo Region of Italy, managed by Fi.R.A. S.p.A.)

By leveraging the right mix of public and private resources, Biorenova has developed and constructed the first demonstration plant with a processing capacity of approximately 1,600 tons of plastic waste per year.

After the establishment of MyRemono, NextChem Tech S.p.A., the NEXTCHEM company dedicated to providing innovative solutions to decarbonize industrial processes, has acquired the majority of MyRemono’s shares. The well-established industrial experience of NextChem Tech S.p.A. empowered MyRemono with the mix of resources that will greatly support the fast and effective industrialization and further development of the proprietary technology, now called NX Re™ technology.

The plant will have an initial processing capacity of approximately 5,000 tons per year of PMMA scraps and will produce approximately 4,345 tons per year of r-MMA, avoiding the consumption of more than 13,000 tons per year of fossil-based raw materials.
MyRemono signed a grant agreement under the framework of the EU “Innovation Fund 3rd call for Small Scale projects”, which will contribute to the implementation of the BOOST project.
